This is the support page for Markdown — Folder Reader, a quiet reader for the .md files you already have.
If something doesn't work, or you'd like a feature, please reach out.
For bug reports, please include your iOS version and device model. A short screen recording helps a lot.
The app remembers the security-scoped bookmark for the folder you picked. Folder access lives only on your device. No server is involved, and the app does not sync your selection anywhere.
No. This is a reader, not an editor. Use any markdown editor that writes to iCloud Drive — iA Writer, Obsidian, the Files app on a desktop, or your laptop. Your changes will show up here the next time you open the file.
The app supports common image formats: jpg, png, webp, gif, svg, heic, heif, bmp, and avif. If an image is referenced via a path the app can't resolve (for example, an absolute web URL behind a paywall, or a path that points outside the folder you selected), you'll see a placeholder instead.
Yes. Open Settings and tap Add folder to add as many root folders as you'd like. Each folder is browsed independently, so subfolder navigation in one doesn't affect the others.
Yes. Tables, task lists, strikethrough, fenced code blocks, and blockquotes all render. If you find a markdown construct that doesn't render correctly, please send the source and we'll take a look.
Open Settings. You can adjust the text size in five steps, switch between light and dark mode, and toggle a monospaced body font for code-style reading.
No. The app does not collect analytics, display ads, or communicate with any server. All file reading happens on-device only. There are no accounts, no telemetry, and no third-party SDKs that phone home.
